Kids' ministry

Orcas Island Community Church loves the ones Jesus loves

and Jesus had a special care and compassion for kids.

Our Kids' Ministry strives to create safe, fun environments where children can be introduced to Jesus' love for them, and grow and mature to reach their full potential in relationships with God and their community.

  • Pioneer Clubs

    Monday Evenings 6pm-7:20

Pioneer Clubs is a youth program designed for children in preschool through elementary school. Each week, club members join in a time of worship, prayer, Bible exploration, games, and skill-building activities. Scripture memorization is encouraged. And, healthy snacks are provided. Pioneer Clubs focuses on all the areas in which children grow: social, physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual. It is a non-competitive and safe environment, allowing children to succeed and feel included. This program typically runs from October through May.

  • VBS 2018

    July 9-13 9am-12pm

    “Shipwrecked: Rescued By Jesus.”

Kids find that Jesus rescues them when life gets stormy: when they’re lonely; when they worry; when they struggle; when they do wrong; or when they’re powerless. This amazing island adventure will help kids (and adults) begin or deepen their faith by discovering that Jesus cares about them personally and rescues in life’s toughest circumstances. (

Early registration is greatly encouraged. This event is free, with donations appreciated. Friday will end with a noon BBQ for kids and families.

The Christmas program is a fun event that happens during a Sunday service in December.  The kids prepare for the extravaganza during Sunday school.

For 18 years our Fall Carnival has been an regular stop for island trick-or-treaters on the evening of October 31. We provide games and prizes for all ages, and a good time is had by all.

  • Nursery

We provide high-quality, loving nursery care for ages birth through four years old during our 9:30 am Sunday morning worship service and other events throughout the church calendar.

  • Sunday School

During 9:30 Sunday service, children are dismissed to classrooms (based on their age/grade level) in the Family Center. They are encouraged to bring their own Bibles, as stories are read and lessons are taught. The environment is welcoming and friendly, with “hands on” learning, fun activities, and yummy snacks. Bible memorization is encouraged. Children develop a deeper understanding of God’s Word and experience His love through healthy relationships with peers and adults.
