Important  update  from  oicc

Dear friends,

This has been a time like no other. For two months now, in the wake of a global pandemic, we have moved our worship services online. Some of you are ready to start worshiping together again immediately, while others are hoping that we move very slowly on this. I want you to know that the staff, elders, deacons, and ministry team leaders of this church have all been praying for you and looking for the best way forward.

As a church, our mission is to “pursue God, in the company of friends, for the benefit of the world.” As we prepare to take the next steps to gather again actually in the company of friends, we have developed a plan based on federal, state, and county guidelines for reopening.

We want to prioritize concern for the physical and spiritual health of our congregation while also respecting our elected government officials. It is important that we also respect those in our church and community who may share a different viewpoint than we do. Ultimately, we want to glorify God in all of our thoughts and actions during this challenging time.

We are going to regather in a phased approach. Our phases for reopening will coincide with the governor’s four-phased “Safe Start” plan for reopening. The particular timing of this has yet to be determined, but it will happen in conjunction with San Juan County.

Throughout all phases of this regathering, we will observe the following.

Physical Distancing Protocols:

  • Engaging in physical distancing of at least six feet
  • Avoiding all physical contact
  • Wearing of face masks in all indoor gatherings
  • Staying home if sick or high-risk
  • Practicing good hand hygiene (wash hands with soap and hot water for 20 seconds)
  • Covering coughs and sneezes
  • Disinfecting surfaces and objects regularly

Phases of Regathering for Worship

Phase 1 (starting May 15)

  • Sunday Worship will start at 10 am online at
  • We will offer a Drive-In Service of Prayer and Worship on various Sundays at 5 pm.
  • The Church office and building will remain closed.
  • Ability to meet one-on-one with pastor by appointment.

Phase 2 (estimated timing by the end of May)

  • Continue with Sunday Worship as an Online Service at 10 am.
  • Possibility of joining with another family for worship because of guidelines that allow for meeting with 5 people outside of your household per week.
  • The Church office and building will be reopened.

Phase 3 (estimated timing of June 20th)

  • Resume gatherings of no more than 50 people for those who do not fall in the high-risk category.
  • Worship services will happen on-site at Orcas Island Community Church with multiple service times to maintain physical distancing protocols.
  • Live-streaming will continue at
  • Bible Studies and Small Groups will resume meeting.

Phase 4 (timing yet to be determined)

Please do not hesitate to reach out to the church leadership to seek clarity on the details of this plan. We will gladly answer any questions or concerns you might have about bringing our church family back together again in-person.
