Throughout the summer, we've enjoyed coming together for worship on the Family Center lawn. Being able to worship outdoors on this beautiful island has truly been a gift. Last week, due to the smoke, we canceled our outdoor service. This weekend it remains unclear whether or not it will be too smoky or even rainy come Sunday.
After much prayer and consideration, we have decided to resume indoor worship services beginning this Sunday at 10:00 am. We will still have an online service at that same time this Sunday and on into the future.
As a church, we want to do everything we can to help keep you safe during this ongoing pandemic. We will continue to follow state and county guidelines, which require face coverings at all times indoors as well as maintaining physical distancing between people outside of your household. As it currently stands in phase 2, we are only able to have 25% capacity indoors. But if it turns out that we have more people than that, we are committed to adding multiple services to meet the need.
We will have the nursery available for infants and toddlers up to 3 years old. Sunday School will remain online for the time being. Kids up to 5th grade will meet via zoom at 9:00 am and MS and HS students will meet online with Jon starting at 11:30 am. To connect, go to the zoom lobby on our website.
If you plan to attend the service, please register with Kimberley Sasan in advance. You can email her at email@example.com. This will help us to prepare.
It will undoubtedly be a different kind of experience than what we have had before. Thank you once again for your flexibility. Please pray with us as we make this move.
Finally, I know that many of you are unable or uncomfortable with worshiping inside the building. I hope that you will still stay connected to our online service! And I also hope that we can find new ways to make connections in the days (even months) to come.
Grace & Peace,
Orcas Island Community Church
