Severe Weather Shelter Opening Thanksgiving Night 2025
The Orcas Island Community Church will open its Severe Weather Shelter on Thanksgiving night and will continue operating every night throughout the season to provide warmth, safety, and support for individuals in need.
Shelter Hours & Location
Opening Night: Thanksgiving Night
Nightly Operation: Open every night for the season
Location: Orcas Island Community Church
Guest Check-In: 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM Door is locked at 9:00pm
Morning Departure: Guests must leave by 9:00 AM each morning.
Services Provided
A cot with clean bedding
A warm evening meal
Snacks available overnight
Warm Socks & Jackets if needed
Sleeping Bags
Hygiene Kits
Board games, puzzles, cards, and a movie
Lights out is at 10:00 PM
Shelter Regulations
To ensure a safe and respectful environment, all guests must follow these guidelines:
Registration: All guests must sign in and agree to the shelter’s guest agreement upon arrival.
Prohibited Items: Drugs, alcohol, and weapons are not permitted on the premises.
No Re-Entry After Check-In: Guests who choose to leave after checking in will not be able to return until the following night.
Pet Policy
Guests with pets are welcome, but the following rules must be followed:
Pets must remain on a leash secured in your space or in a secure kennel.
Pets may not roam freely.
These guidelines help ensure the comfort and safety of all guests.
