Orcas Island Food Bank

Orcas Island Food Bank, an independent non-profit corporation, has been serving Orcas Island families since 1984 by gathering and sharing grocery products with neighbors in need. The Food Bank is a bridge between America's food bounty and those who cannot provide for themselves. By 2009 as the demands on the Food Bank grew it was in need of a centralized location and new building.

The Orcas Island Community Church (OICC) offered the Food Bank a $1 a year lease to place a building on church property and then along with the Community Foundation and many others in the community spearheaded a successful campaign to raise the money to build the new facility. The various island churches now take turns preparing a hot lunch for the Food Bank's clients who spend some time socializing in a warm place with good food.

The Food Bank is a true example of community collaboration by the people of Orcas Island to get good things done!

Orcas Island Community Church is proud to partner with The Food Bank to help meet the needs of many people on our island who have felt the effects of the economic downturn.

The Food Bank is open on Tuesdays at 12:00pm and on Thursday evenings at 5:00pm. Lunch is served in the Church Fellowship Hall each Tuesday.
